We fast in hopes the God will hearken His Ear to our supplications, But are we in fact trying to Force the Hand of God? Or is there some other result or posture we must have for fasting?

Nice Site!

I do not think that we are trying to force God's hand when we fast. There are so many occasions in the Bible when people fasted ..Jesus (40 days) Daniel and Esther to name a few. God always hears us..but I believe that when we fast we have an even greater connection to God...because we so desperately want to hear from him that we are willing to give up natural human desires. I always feel such power when I fast .

Today people fast for new cars and homes and mates and money and jewelry and to win competitions and any number of things. None of these were the reason for fasting in either the old or new testament.

Ezekiel, moses, Jesus, even Ester all Fasted for Nations ( the well being of other people. ) When the dicisples asked Jesus why they could not cast the devil out of the boy Jesus answered "This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting." now form content it is obvious that the disciples are talking about the healing of the boy again someone else welfare not their own. But we fast for our own quality of living standard.

Is this God's will for us to fast for our own quality of living?
